4. Kern Riggs-Kesgard/Kjersgaard/Kjaersgaard Researcher. Kern Riggs said Christen fought in the Schleswig War and had a saber wound that
never quite healed right. He thought that was one of the reasons he died young.
He came to America so his children wouldn't have to fight in the war.
